Carbon sequestering...

in your home garden is easier than you think. Compost, vermiculture, and simply planting your garden will help. Add in some trees and bushes ... you can usually tie up all the carbon you produce with a bit of effort.
I am going to be using last years straw bale gardening as a layer in the raised beds this year. Along with some wood branches and some chips to start something that resembles hugelculture... a technique that uses wood in the raised beds to help hold water. Some of these beds (once established for a year) will need NO supplemental water at all. The wood acts as a sponge during the many years it takes for it to break down.
The best information I have found on this is on the Permies.com!
